If you’ve spent much time on our blog, you know that I am obsessed with making liver treats. They’re super simple to make, packed with nutritional goodness, and every dog I have ever met goes bonkers over liver. With today’s recipe, I’ve added some extra goodness with shredded carrots and I’m super excited to share this one with you. I’ve eliminated the usual flour I add and made this recipe with only 6 ingredients.
1 pound beef liver
1 large egg
1 cup grated carrots
1/4 cup milled flax seed
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan (preferably with coconut oil) and dust with a little flour. Alternatively, you can use a silicone baking mat. Puree the beef liver and egg in a blender until liquefied. Pour the liver and egg into a large bowl and add the other ingredients
Spread the mixture evenly onto your prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 – 35 minutes. The edges of the treats should appear crisp. Allow to cool and cut into bite-sized squares. Store in freezer or fridge and take out as needed.
The nifty little container I am using for these treats is called “Pupperware” and they are totally awesome. I have a couple of these and they are bone shaped and stack together. You can get yours online for just $3.99. They come in clear with lid colors of clear, pink, red, and black. Click here to get some for yourself: Bone-shaped Pupperware to store your dog treats.
