We’re reviewing the Mega Mesh Premium Magnetic Screen Door by Easy Install.
I don’t know how things are at your house, but the outside potty routine can be a bit cumbersome for a dog owner. Maybe I’m just lazy, but the up-and-down and in-and-out can get really tiring, especially when I’m in the middle of something on the computer and one of our four-legged kiddos needs to take a trip outside. In our last house, we had a doggie door, and it was nice for our black lab; he could go out whenever he wanted and it didn’t matter to me what time of day or night it was. However, that doggie door was big enough for a lab, so Catherine, our precious Yorkie, just couldn’t use it – it was too high off the ground and too heavy for her to open easily. So, when we moved, we never installed a doggie door. Dakota (the lab) stays outside most of the day and gives a little scratch on the door when he wants in or out.
That said, I’ve always kept my eye out for something that would be usable for both a big and a small dog and allow them to go outside without my assistance. Enter the Mega Mesh Premium Magnetic Screen Door. This humble piece of mesh and velcro with sewn-in magnets is a pretty outstanding piece of dog-owner necessity. I was given the opportunity to try this screen door out, and I love it! The entire installation process, from opening the box to being operational, took me less than 10 minutes.
Besides having a lightening fast install time, this magnetic screen door opens easily and closes itself. It takes almost no effort to open it, so both Catherine and Dakota can easily go in and out without needing me.
Here’s a video of Catherine going through the screen door.
- easy to install
- opens and closes with just a little pressure – big and small dog friendly
- keeps bugs out
- inexpensive compared to doggie doors
- removable, so you can change the location or take it when you move
- no permanent damage to your home – unlike a doggie door
- fits doors up to 34″x82″
- only usable in fair weather – not ideal for really hot or really cold days
- it closes with magnets, so if you have a metal door behind it, the magnets will stick to the door – not an issue when the door is open
All in all, for someone who doesn’t want a doggie door and needs a simple solution to day-time potty trips to the back yard, this magnetic screen door is a great value.
