Does your Yorkie love bananas? Try this simple treat recipe your Yorkie will love!
Our Yorkie, Catherine, has never had fruits. Honestly, someone gave me banana and blueberry treats as a gift when Catherine was young and she wouldn’t touch them, so the thought of feeding her fruits never crossed my mind, until last night. For Christmas this year, my husband got a dehydrator, so he has been like a madman in the kitchen with fruits. Last night we tried out his fresh dehydrated pineapple. Catherine was on my lap, as usual, and was just begging for a piece, so I gave her a little and she loved it. I was impressed, fruits have lots of antioxidants and vitamins and can be a great addition to any Yorkie’s diet, something I hadn’t even considered until that moment.
Later the same evening, as I was working in the kitchen on slicing up some bananas to dry, I thought, “why not let Catherine try a little banana?” She didn’t like a processed banana treat, but maybe she’d like a fresh banana. And boy did she! Bananas have a ton of health benefits and apparently dogs love them (how did I miss this?). Moderation is the key, as with anything, and your Yorkie should only have the occasional banana piece as an addition to his normal diet.
I had a few banana pieces left over after I filled the dehydrator, so I thought I would set out to make a banana treat that Catherine would like. It turned out awesome, so I thought I would share with everyone. 🙂
