ZiwiPeak Yorkie TreatsThis is our review of ZiwiPeak’s ‘Good-Dog’ Treats.

When we asked ZiwiPeak, a really awesome New Zealand company, for some food samples to review for our series on the best food for your Yorkie, they went above-and-beyond and sent us all kinds of goodies. We’ve already reviewed the awesome Deer Shank Bone they sent us (she is still working on it – chewing and chewing every night), and Catherine loved it. She also loves the food! So, we had to write a review of the treats, too.

Here is some info from the literature I received:

ZiwiPeak only uses premium, all-natural ingredients that are ranch-based (free of antibiotics and hormones) on New Zealand’s green field or fished from it’s clear waters.

Only the highest quality ingredients make the grade, with no added salt, sugars, colours, preservatives, fillers or grains. ZiwiPeak Treats are suitable to reward your pet at any stage of life – from puppy to mature adult.

Most importantly, they will love the taste! Even the fussiest eaters can’t resist ZiwiPeak Treats.

ZiwiPeak’s food and treats are made with fresh ingredients using a gentle air-drying process. It is essentially a jerky. The air drying process takes about 8 hours (7 hours 50 minutes at 104 degrees, 10 minutes at 137 degrees). About 100 pounds of ingredients becomes 40 pounds of food. The meat is from human grade animals, all of the ingredients are from New Zealand, and no refrigeration is required. ZiwiPeak is the convenience of a kibble with virtually all the benefits of feeding a raw diet. That’s why they call it “Raw Without the Thaw.”

To be fair, the ‘Daily-Dog’ Cuisine could be used as treats, Catherine likes it so much! The Venison treats are a minimum 95% Venison with Chicory, Lecithin, Mixed Tocopherols and Parsley.

Catherine loves these treats! She watched with such intent as I got the bag out, opened it up and looked at the pieces. She waited as patiently as she could (maybe 30 seconds) and then started her little squeaky barking, begging for a piece. To give you a little perspective, I do make my own liver treats at home about twice a month, so Catherine has no shortage of real meat treats. Also, living in the boonies like we do, my husband is an avid hunter and each fall brings home at least one Whitetail Deer, so our freezer is also generally stocked with venison – which we do occasionally turn into jerky that we share with our furry family members. So, Catherine isn’t deprived when it comes to meats, she knows her stuff. I would have to say that of all the treats we have tried recently, Catherine likes this the most, and I love the limited ingredients. The texture is perfect for a Yorkie and I literally cannot imagine a Yorkie who wouldn’t do a little dance for a piece of a ZiwiPeak treat!
